The Founding Chairman of the Cevital Group, Issad Rebrab, received the award for Personality of the Year in Venturina, Italy.
This award is given by the Tuscany region in recognition of the partners that have contributed to the renewal of economic dynamism in the region. This prize honours the investment strategy of Issad Rebrab to drive a recovery in the special steels industry as well as the development of the food industry in Piombino.
Mr Rebrab was given the award alongside two other eminent representatives, Pierre Nari, extraordinary commissioner of the Lucchini-Aferpi transition for his career as a whole, and Enrico Rossi, Governor of Tuscany for his support of the Region, in the presence of many representatives from the region’s economic and political institutions.
In June 2015, Issad Rebrab took over the struggling Lucchini steel company in Piombino, Italy’s second-largest steel hub, for €10 million, maintaining 750 jobs.
Ultimately, the Cevital Group intends to invest €400 million in the development of additional steel, logistical and agro-industry business in the port of Piombino, offering opportunities in markets both in North Africa and further afield.
